Chuck Lehnsherr looked down on Earth with a sigh, then said, "You're leaking."

"My fine control is still stiff after my time as a chicken," Magnus rumbled, sitting down to breakfast. Chuck rose from the window seat to sit beside his father, fighting back a smile.

"Eggs ?"

"I was a chicken, Charles. That does not mean I empathize with them," Magnus huffed. His expression turned sly as he added, "I missed LeBeau by centimeters with those knives ..."

"I thought the helmet over your rooster head was throwing your aim off," Chuck teased. He leaned back and added, "Dad, about my staying here ..."

"You want to join the New Mutants ?" Magnus asked.

"I kind of owe Frank Richards after I ruined his big moment in Sydney," Chuck said, blushing. "Man, I sounded like a dork ..."

"Well, son, it is your choice," Magnus replied. "Just... be careful. And keep an eye on your nephews and nieces. I worry about Beatrice, dating Nathan Summers like that ... girl has Wanda's taste in men ..."

"Yeah, but Nate's not a synthezoid," Chuck pointed out.

"That is his only saving grace," Magnus replied, frowning. "He is STILL a Summers ..."

Forest Hills, NY: 06:00 hrs EDT:

"Why, oh WHY, did I turn them down ... ?"

May paced the floor of her room, clad in boxers and a T-shirt, until her mother entered with an envelope.

"An official invite from Emma Frost and Sean Cassidy," Mary Jane said, winking. "I think you were a little overwhelmed by the weirdness, that's all."

May hugged her mother and said, "Will Daddy -?"

"He'll survive," MJ snickered. "That 'deep-fryer' crack was a little cold - doesn't he know what Magneto went through as a child ?"

"'Blut und Eisen' wasn't required reading at the NYPD," Peter mumbled at the doorway. "But I was a jerk. May ... just be careful, OK ?"

"Thanks, Daddy," May said, hugging him with a grin.

Ray, Luna and Bea high-fived May when she stepped from the girls' locker room of the Massachusetts Academy's Danger Room wearing a red and yellow training skinsuit.

"Face it, tigers," May said, winking at the male New Mutants, "you just hit the jackpot."

"Sorry, May - I've got a lady already," Frank said, kissing Ray's hand. They cuddled, whispering, and watched as Chuck Lehnsherr entered the room.

"I never thought I'd wear these colors," Chuck said with a faint smile. "Or be here ..."

"Welcome to the future, unc," Tom grinned, high-fiving Chuck. "Can you believe they want a class photo ?"

The Mutants got into position as Moira MacTaggart checked her camera and said, "HAGGIS !"

"BLEUGH !"
