Subject: [OTL]: Public Feedback, part the second

So you know that saying about "good intentions"...?

Yeah.

Continuing to feedback fics from *last year...* ;)

Indigo, "'Til the Midnight Hour": Oh, Indi. I'm not a sentimentalist by nature. I'm *not.* So how is it that this piece got me sniffling? This is just about *perfect,* showing each member of The Authority at their most human. One of my favorite pieces from you, I think. And that's going some.

"Nes Gadol Haya Sham": "~And I,~ she told herself resolutely, ~Am just the ballsy little Shadowcat to do it.~"--oh, she IS, and this reminds me why I used to love her so much. I *detest* Marrow, and that almost made me delete without reading, but I'm glad I didn't. I should know to trust you by now. ;) The scene between Kitty and Magnus was extremely well crafted; he could use this, much more often.

Alicia McKenzie, "Cold Fire": I'm really happy with the recent interest in Authority/Stormwatch, and by such talented writers too. I love downtime stories, and even though this one featured Winter--who I barely know--you pulled me right into it. It certainly makes me want to know more about him, and that's the sign of good fic right there.

Ana Lyssie, "Mercenary of High Calibre": Okay, so it's probably not who you were thinking of when you wrote it, but I cracked up thinking of Slade "Terminator" Wilson singing this...with his faithful butler Wintergreen accompanying him on the chorus. It worked for me!

Red and Indi, "The Midnighter's Bad Day....": *snicker* ... Well, I think Mid would do better than *that* against Bullseye...but dang, it's funny. ... Now, I *would* kill to see a real Batman vs. Midnighter fight. See the Bat. See the Bat bleed. A lot. ::mutters:: Batman always wins, my... *ahem.* Anyway. Funny, guys.

Siarade, "This Is How": ... This is how to make 'rith read fic about characters she hates. Make it so good she can't turn away. It's about Cable and Dom, but it could be anyone, and by *God* it's powerful writing. Tear-your-heart-out work. I love the repetition in it, and the emotion, and the technical precision. So I guess if you need to keep writing Nate, Ali, I'll just have to keep reading him. :)

Whitewolf, "My Stolen City": ::laughing:: Ah, Catty! I liked this an awful lot, Selina's viewpoint and her thoughts on the others who love the city too. I'd forgotten how much I liked this kind of Catwoman, smart and irreverent and fun. More?

Tangerine, "Snow and Infomercials": You already know how much I liked this, but no harm in saying it again. YHiL was a *terrific* book, sorely missed by me at the least, and I was thrilled to see these guys again. Fantastic dialogue, wonderful interaction, you're hurrying up with that sequel, yes? I thought so. ;)

Mel, "Desperate Times, Ramen Noodles": I almost never read self-insertions or original characters (::digress:: I haven't even read Kaylee's Kai stuff, if you can believe it! Sacrilege! Yes, I know, I will...someday.... ::end digression::), but I liked this a lot--yes, continue! Naomi's just as sweet as her Writer. :) And anything with Hank in it is a treat. Pretty fascinating work you do, Mel--both fictionally and IRL.

Alicia McKenzie, "TCP: L'Anima Del Libro": Ooh, now *there's* a power to be envied. I sense a bibliophile. :) Ever thought about writing Doug Ramsey, Ali? His power could be described in similar terms...and I'd love to see you handle his love of language like you handled this narrator's love of books. Just a thought. ;)

More to come. I hear patience is a virtue. Don't believe it, myself.
