Subject: [OTL]: Thanks...
Date: Mon, 15 Nov 1999: from 'rith
...to all of you, for the great fic I've been reading over the last couple of months.
Since at this point it would take hours I just don't have to feedback each and every one of you separately, this is an admittedly lame blanket email. I apologize; I also have obligations elsewhere that don't let me spend as much time talking to you all as I'd like.
A couple of specific thanks, in no particular order and really just things that especially struck me:
For making me laugh, Matt Nute's "X-Sunscreen Song"; DarkMark's filk "Money for Comics"; Chibi-Dyce's "Psycho-Analyzing my Symbiote" (which also goes in the "characters I hate but I read this anyway" pile); Lyssie's "I Want Longshot" (put that song in my head *all day!*); Phil Hartman's "The Blanche Sorceress Profile";
For actually making me read and like fic about characters I loathe, Siarade's
"War Crime" and "Ours" (Cable/Domino); Chibi-Dyce's "The Chosen People" (Apocalypse);
Alicia McKenzie's "Annwn" (Cable, and *shamelessly* manipulative--curse you,
Ali! ;)) and "Over the Hills and Far Away" (more manipulation--least he was
watching a good movie!
For work that just *wrenches* at the heart, Persephone's "Tapestry of Fire"; Mel's "Unwound Clocks"; Chibi-Dyce's "The Oath" (and it IS your fault, Poi, all yours, because you started it); K Nice's "Nightmares: Angel" (the last line killed me, K);
For fic that makes me think, Matt Nute's "Non Cogito, Non Ergo Sum"; D Benway's epic "The Chosen Ones" (which also scared the hell out of me, thanks, Doc) and just now "A Discussion" (I have to see this movie, now);
For writing about characters near and dear to my heart, Alicia McKenzie and DuAnn Cowarts's Authority fics (I've got a new obsession, thank you, ladies); Jim Smith's "Next Best Thing" (Tbolts and Warren, hoo-yah!); DarkMark, "Triad" (keeping my faith in the Legion) and "Freedom Fighters" (I don't know them as well, but they're NOT MARVEL and therefore all more interesting); Kaylee's "Here There Be" (creating a wonderful fictive from the ashes of the old, with a clear and powerful voice); Syl Frances, "Invasion" (*lovely* bit with Garth's nascent powers, I especially enjoyed that ); Larissa James' "Within, Without" (if it wasn't heartbreaking he wouldn't be Pietro);
For fic that just flat-out makes me envious of the writer's talent, pretty much everyone mentioned above and some who weren't, because I just didn't have room in my mailbox to save everything.
And oh, yes. There's one other writer who's notably absent from the above, and it's because she deserves an email all her own.
Indigo, you've written so *many* excellent fics in the past few months I barely know where to start. And I've saved them, every last one. I don't know when I'll have the chance to send proper feedback, but I'm reading and enjoying your work--and I'll admit, even moreso now that you've dipped into the Bat-verse for inspiration. ;)
Once again: thank you, everyone, and keep writing. I appreciate you.
