Subject: [OTL]: Catching up: Feedback

Date: Thu, 12 Aug 1999: from 'rith

Wow. Go out of town for a couple of days and return to an overflowing mailbox. Well, *I'm* not complaining, especially when there's so much good fic to comment on!

But before that, thank you *very* much to everyone who commented on "Violet's Tale," particularly those of you unfamiliar with the Legion who took the time to read it anyway. Poi Lass, I'm certain you would make an *excellent* Legionnaire; this is a group, after all, that once counted Matter-Eater Lad as one of its members. (I'm not kidding.) Kielle, I'm flattered by your request and of course you may archive it, at your convenience and with my gratitude. Rossi, you made an interesting comment about the meta; I had intended it as a guide to those who knew nothing about the characters, but I see your point. Something to ponder.

Feedback!

Samy Merchi--"From Russia With Love":
Whoa. Nothing like a fall out of a plane to bring out the best in people, huh? Great chapter! Empathās going to die painfully, I hope? The following chapters were just as riveting.

Dark Mark--"Dance with the Demons":
Itās a grand treat to read about the Outsiders again. I especially enjoyed the bits with Element Girl, who I only know from her Sandman (last) appearance.

Dyce--"A Final Testament":
Lovely. The bit that really got me? Her last words about Sean, and entrusting him to Emma. "...the man I leave of Necessity to her care." Wow.

JB McDonald--"The Love of His Live":
Ow. Ow. Ow. I think I hurt something. Thanks. I think. ;)

Trumpetlee--"When We Were Very Young":
It Just Figures": Cute! And my favorite part÷Clark was married to *Lana,* not Lois. I always liked Ms. Lang better; must be the red hair.

Jim Smith--"Next Best Thing":
Iām sitting in the office giggling and my cubemate is giving me odd looks, so I must be reading the Pryde & Wisdom cameo. Oh, lord. Songbird is seriously *righteous,* my favorite T-bolt. And I want a Bamf doll, too!

Phil Hartman--"Little Fires" and "Inverse Polarity":
I have to apologize, because I haven't been reading these, and it's obvious I should be. Even a quick glance shows some excellent writing and characterization, and at some point I'm determined to read the whole series from the start. Your "Metaguard" notes post alone was incredibly intriguing.

Amanda Sichter--"And Then There Were None":
Ghastly and chilling. (This is a compliment, btw!) I've never liked Poccy anyway, and your story illustrates one potential fatal flaw in his plans.

Magik--"Blood on My Hands":
Nice, and perfectly in character. Amara may not deliberately seek the death of her enemies, but she won't shed tears if she *must* kill. There's a real core of ruthlessness in her, and thart makes her all the more interesting.

Dannell Lites--"The Hammer of Hell":
Having been priviliged to read this as a work in progress, I'm thrilled to see it finished, and so well, too! Great voices, both for Von Hammer and Yeager.

Indigo--"Obligation":
Heck of a scary What If, made even better with the appearances of Stevie, Tom, and Sharon. Very powerful. More, please? ;)

Emily R. Snyder--"If Hand Bleeds...":
Cecelia fic! I'm happy. I thought she had the most potential of any X-person introduced in years, and was terribly sorry to see her go. I do believe a series in in order!

Matt Nute--"Bravado":
You had me from the Rush song. (Great album! ) Wow. A terrible possibility, and utterly plausible. There's a wonderful sense of history, and building on that for a really believable future. One, I hope, we never see in the books. But this was a great piece.

And IMO, the best fic of the month, if not the year:

Kaylee--"Nightly": ...

I'm speechless.

Words fail. Forgive me. This is purely brilliant. Without a doubt, the truest look into Alfred's heart, and Bruce's, that I've ever seen.

Thank you.
